Summary

The ARD Investigator is responsible for determining if the ARD applicant is eligible for acceptance into the ARD program.
Essential Duties

  • Process incoming files.
  • Compile background information and prepare files for review by Chief Deputy.
  • Complete approved or denied files, then forward to ARD Administrator for further processing.
  • Assist Administrator with pre-hearing processing.
  • Attend court hearings.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, three years of job-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of criminal justice system.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to establish priorities and remain focused on daily operations.
  • Accurate and detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to be fair and consistent with applicants and victims while keeping in mind the interests of the Commonwealth.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and proceed with objectives.
  • Familiarity with local law enforcement agencies and criminal justice agencies
  • Ability to follow office protocols and resolve routine problems.
  • Able to use common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions.
  • Flexible, with an ability to carry multiple tasks to completion.
  • Exhibits a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and honesty with an ability to handle confidential matters
Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice, administration or a related field.
  • Four or more years of law enforcement/court-related experience.
  • Familiarity with Chester County's court system.
  • Knowledge of the County of Chester and its political subdivisions
  • General knowledge and understanding of County of Chester policies and procedures

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:
  • Basic Office Suite Skills, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Explorer).
  • Basic Outlook Skills (email and calendar)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. Occasionally, the employee will need to stand, walk, lift and carry up to 25 pounds for distance of approximately 30 inches, and carry 15 pounds for a distance of up to 200 feet. On rare occasions, the employee will need to bend at the waist while working and climb stairs.
