We are seeking a motivated Associate Data Engineer ready to launch their career into one of tech's most strategically valuable and rapidly growing specializations. This exceptional entry-level opportunity offers an accelerated learning path into data engineering for mission-critical systems. You will assist in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and databases that support machine learning applications in both classified and unclassified environments, building technical skills that typically take years to develop elsewhere. Working alongside seasoned engineers, you will contribute to real-world projects that directly impact national security while gaining practical experience with data processing technologies, ETL pipelines, and infrastructure automation in a supportive environment designed to rapidly advance your technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and maintaining ETL pipelines for processing streaming data
  • Help implement data storage solutions using open-source technologies
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of monitoring and alerting mechanisms for data pipelines
  • Learn and implement infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform and Ansible
  • Implement data governance and security protocols
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across sites
  • Participate in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Active DoD SECRET security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of Python
  • Familiarity with SQL and basic database concepts
  • Ability to rapidly acquire new skills
  • Problem-solving mindset and enthusiasm for learning
  • Detail oriented
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Candidates with the following qualifications will be preferred:

  • Relevant coursework in data science, databases, or distributed systems
  • Basic understanding of ETL concepts
  • Familiarly with Linux/Unix environments
  • Interest in cloud technologies or infrastructure-as-code
  • Exposure to containerization concepts

The pay range for this position is $80,000- $94,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills. This is not a guarantee of compensation.
