Design Engineer | Hudsonville, MI

Salary Range: $71,000 - $110,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize product designs using CAD software and engineering principles.
• Create detailed 2D engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for components and assemblies.
• Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) analysis.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure design feasibility and integration.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new and revised designs.
• Resolve design-related issues encountered during manufacturing and product lifecycle.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) for 3D modeling and drafting.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication).
• Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Knowledge of material properties and selection for industrial applications.
• Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or other simulation software.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles or Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Hands-on prototyping, testing, or fabrication experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
