Job Description

MUST:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior compliance role within life insurance or annuities (annuities preferred)
• Ability and experience meeting with regulators, looking at new regulations coming down the pipeline and how they impact the company
• Exposure to global/offshore regulators
• Experience helping to establish a compliance program or revamp a compliance program/create a culture around compliance at a company
• Experience training on compliance and running compliance town halls
• Juris Doctor (JD) preferred or second option would be just a bachelors or masters
• People Management
• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements in the United States, particularly those related to insurance and reinsurance.
• Experience with SEC & FINRA requirements for registered products.
• Experience developing and implementing compliance programs across multiple jurisdictions/regulatory frameworks.

PLUS:

• Broker dealer, registered annuities, securities- super helpful
• Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification preferred.
• Experience with regulatory examinations and inquiries preferred.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations, such as GDPR and CCP preferred.
• Experience working with international regulatory bodies preferred.

DAY TO DAY:

Our client, an annuities firm is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Global Chief Compliance Officer to lead our global compliance program. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust compliance framework across our operations in the United States, Bermuda, and the Cayman Islands. This role requires a deep understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industries, particularly as they relate to annuities, and the diverse regulatory landscapes. You will play a critical role in ensuring the company adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards across all operational jurisdictions. The Global Chief Compliance Officer will provide strategic direction and oversight to the global compliance team, fostering a culture of compliance and integrity throughout the organization. This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and is required to be onsite 3 days a week at our Durham, NC headquarters. This person will have a Chief Compliance Officer report to them + that leaders team as well.
