As the Grants Accountant, you will be responsible for managing all financial operations of the Center, including payroll, billing, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and supporting the accounting assistant with technical guidance. Responsibilities Administer weekly payroll processing Oversee Mutual of America contribution management Prepare and distribute 1099 forms Complete and submit monthly DFSS vouchers Prepare and process AFC billings Review and supervise the submission of ISBE vouchers Analyze and generate monthly AFC reports Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Receipts functions Prepare and record journal entries Reconcile bank accounts and other assigned financial accounts Review and analyze credit card transactions Prepare audit materials and other required financial documentation Maintain and update various monthly financial reports Manage control ledgers and compile financial and operational reports Train and provide technical assistance to the accounting assistant on accounting procedures and special projects Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field, including a minimum of 15 semester hours in Accounting 2 years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a nonprofit organization 5+ years of relevant professional experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized accounting systems Strong knowledge of modern accounting theories, principles, and practices Well-developed analytical skills for financial transactions and record-keeping Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively Strong team collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment Highly detail-oriented with a logical and systematic approach to problem-solving Flexibility to perform effectively in high-demand, high-stress environments Proficient in word processing and team collaboration Ability to read, speak, and understand English fluently Frequent talking, hearing, and visual acuity required Occasional standing, walking, sitting, handling materials, and lifting up to 30 pounds Fine hand manipulation skills for keyboard and computer work Willingness to work occasional extended hours beyond 40 per week Work primarily conducted in an internal office and classroom setting Moderate noise levels typical of the work environment Compensation Salary: $70,000-$75,000 Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Life Insurance Short- and Long- term Disability Insurance 403b Retirement Plan Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Mileage Reimbursement Staff Development Career Blazers Nonprofit Search maintains a broad focus so that your search can be thorough, and inclusive of all relevant options.
