Summary of Responsibilities
The Grocery/Dairy and Frozen associate is responsible for providing customers with quality items in a friendly and courteous manner, while ensuring the Grocery/Dairy/Frozen departments are stocked and presentable.
Essential Duties
The Grocery/Dairy and Frozen associate plays an important role in the ongoing functions of the departments. The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:
Asks customers if they need assistance and suggests additional sales in the grocery/dairy/frozen departments
Accurately stocks products within the Grocery/ Dairy and Frozen departments, which includes assisting with unloading delivery trucks when they arrive and stocking products either to the backroom or floor, depending on inventory
Monitors products being stocked to ensure they meet or exceed customer expectations
Maintains a thorough knowledge of products provided by the department
Ensures State and County safety and sanitation standards are met with all equipment, surfaces, and floors within the department and the proper methods are used when handling food. Making sure sale items are filled for next morning
Skills and Abilities
Based on the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, the Grocery/Dairy and Frozen associate should have a number of skills and abilities:
Sound organizational, time management skills, and attention to detail
Good interpersonal and customer service skills, well-developed verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work both as an individual contributor and a team member
The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and meet assigned deadlines
Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
Flexibility to work some day shifts when needed
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
Based on the responsibilities of the position, the grocery/dairy/frozen clerk is required to have:
Must be over 18 years of age
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Knowledge of available grocery items
Physical and Environmental
The Grocery/Dairy and Frozen associate is located within a retail grocery environment and will experience very cold temperatures throughout the working day.
Physical requirements include:
Ability to work in a cold environment
Regularly lifting up to 50 pounds
Ability to push, pull, bend, lift, and twist
