Location: Hybrid – Must be able to work onsite Tues/Weds/Thurs in either Atlanta, GA or Newark, NJ

We’re seeking an experienced Oncology Editor to join our dynamic editorial team. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment and is passionate about producing high-quality, relevant oncology content for a highly informed physician audience. You’ll split your time between editing daily medical news and reporting/writing in-depth feature stories that offer unique insights into cancer research, treatment, and innovation.

You’ll work closely with a collaborative oncology editorial team and report directly to the Executive Editor.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and assign oncology-related news articles with a strong eye for accuracy, clarity, and physician relevance
• Write original long-form and feature articles with fresh, engaging angles
• Collaborate with marketing teams to develop newsletter and promotional copy
• Partner with operations to ensure timely publication of all content

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in health journalism, medical editing, or content writing
• Strong knowledge of the oncology field and current trends in cancer care
• Proven ability to manage freelance writers and edit for tone, accuracy, and depth
• Demonstrated success writing in-depth, investigative, or feature-length content
• Deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and highly dependable
• Able to distill complex medical language into clear, engaging content for physicians
• Comfortable collaborating in a fast-moving, virtual newsroom

Preferred Background

• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, biology, or a related field
• Experience working with medical publications, academic research, or healthcare-focused media
