Head Secretary Robbinsdale Cooper High School
AFSCME Category IV, $25.03 - $30.12 per hour plus full-time benefits
47 weeks per year, eight hours per day plus 30 minutes unpaid lunch
Reports to the principals
Responsibilities - Provide secretarial support for the building administrators.
- Prioritize and manage office workload. Direct the work of other office staff.
- Prepare teacher extracurricular contracts.
- Communicate with human resources on vacancies and set up interviews as needed.
- Assist staff with workers comp claims and processes.
- Assist substitute staff.
- Maintain daily absence reports and forms.
- Verify timecards for education assistants and clerks.
- Coordinate the ordering of office forms and supplies.
- Assist principals with and coordinate the open houses, conference schedules, faculty handbook, award ceremonies, graduation and bulk mailings, etc.
- Facilitate meetings as needed.
- Answer phones.
- Assist with registration and testing as needed.
- Compile, design and send out newsletter electronically to homes.
- Gather data from Infinite Campus and put into Excel spreadsheet as requested.
- Other duties as assigned by principal(s).
Qualifications - High school diploma or GED required; minimum two-year college degree preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational and office skills.
- Excellent people skills.
- Strong writing skills to create letters, memos and school documents.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Accurate word processing, demonstrated ability to use district software and office machines.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn district policies and procedures.
- Ability and willingness to use pleasant telephone and personal contact skills using excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to create PowerPoint presentations.
- Ability to create newsletters, graphics and other communications.
Note: Testing is required for this position. Applicants must show proficiency in technology and clerical skills.
