Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Histologist Technician at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:

• You will file, locate, log, retrieve, and deliver pathology specimens/reports. 

• You will perform standard histology procedures for embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining tissue for analysis. 

• You will provide the pathologist with well stained microscopic slides of surgical sections and perform any necessary procedures for microscopic diagnosis 

• You will perform specialized testing as assigned. 

• You will assist in instructing other personnel as assigned. 

• You will assure that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times. 

Qualifications: 

• Certification by the Board of Registry of American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred. 

• College level course work in anatomy and chemistry required. 

• 2 years histology experience; experience may be obtained through completion of 1 year of an accredited training program in histology techniques and procedures. 

• Knowledge of medical terminology, histochemistry, histology, and basic mathematics and skill at microtomy and embedding tissue required. 

• Must have good verbal and written skills and good computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
