We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced professional to join our team as an Income Tax Prepare r with comprehensive bookkeeping experience. The ideal candidate will manage clients' day-to-day financial records, ensure the accuracy of financial statements, and prepare and file accurate federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses. This hybrid role requires a strong understanding of tax law, accounting principles, and excellent client communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Preparation & Planning:

  • Conduct thorough client interviews to obtain all necessary income and expense information for tax preparation.
  • Prepare and file accurate federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, small businesses, and other entities (e.g., Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065).
  • Analyze financial records to ensure all applicable deductions, adjustments, and credits are applied to minimize tax liabilities and maximize returns.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations to provide informed and accurate advice to clients.
  • Provide proactive tax planning advice and strategies for future financial readiness.
  • Assist clients with tax authority inquiries, audits, and resolutions as needed.
  • Being an enrolled Agent is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Spanish Speaking is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Bookkeeping & Financial Management:

  • Maintain an accurate and organized record of all financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including processing invoices and payments.
  • Update and maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries are accurate (applying double-entry bookkeeping principles).
  • Prepare monthly or quarterly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, for client review.
  • Process payroll and related filings (e.g., year-end 1099 filings) as required.
