Job Summary
Transcribes correspondence and documents from digital audio files dictated by attorneys.
Prepares legal papers using fill-in forms published by the New York Workers Compensation Board (
Corresponds with clients, witnesses, attorney offices, and WCB via telephone, mail and email.
General Accountabilities
Prepare and process legal documents and papers, such as pre-hearing conference statements, appeals, rebuttals, memoranda, subpoenas, and settlement agreements.
Accurately transcribe dictation created and uploaded by attorneys.
Prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Meet deadlines set by laws, judges, clients and attorneys.
Communicate clearly and effectively via phone, fax, and email.
Enter data in firm case management software.
Enter billing information into firm billing software.
Organize and maintain law library, documents, and case files.
Schedule appointments.
Make photocopies of correspondence, documents, and other printed matter.
Assist attorneys in collecting information.
Drafts and transcribes office memos.
Treat all with courtesy and respect.

Qualifications
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or similar role is preferred
Certification or diploma as a Legal Assistant is preferred
Familiarity with legal procedures, terminology, and the court system
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with document management experience
Comfortable Microsoft Office and case management software
Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
