Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a smart and highly motivated program manager to assist our competition legal team in addressing complex legal and policy issues affecting Amazon’s business and customers. This role is perfect for an organized, proactive person who is interested in the law and exposure to business teams across the company. This role may sit in either Seattle, WA (preferred) or Arlington, VA. Key job responsibilities A successful candidate will be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively, manage multiple priorities, think creatively and strategically, and exercise strong judgment. We’re looking for someone who approaches their work with a “how can I help?” mindset. Responsibilities will blend aspects of program and project management, including support for leadership updates and strategic planning documents, data collection from business teams and outside legal vendors, and knowledge management. Responsibilities also include identifying and implementing process improvements; facilitating cross-functional coordination between lawyers, economists, data engineers, and other teams; and ensuring excellence in work product and deliverables. Above all, you’ll need a collaborative attitude and willingness to step in wherever help is needed. - 2+ years of program or project management experience - Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements - Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams - Bachelor's degree - Experience in program management of large and complex issues, while working with cross-functional teams - Experience working with and understanding legal issues, including related to litigation and regulatory issues - Familiarity with program-management tools, techniques, and software, including strong skills of breaking down tasks, simplifying roadmaps, establishing owners and timelines, and status reporting - Understand strategic initiatives and drive them to a successful conclusion - Outstanding written and verbal communication skills - Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes - Experience managing senior stakeholders and the ability to move forward in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge - Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others—with strong interpersonal skills, judgment, and political acumen Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market.
