We are seeking a Safety Engineer who is passionate about creating safe, high-performing environments on complex job sites. This role plays a critical part in implementing XLI’s safety programs and fostering a proactive culture of risk awareness and compliance. Responsibilities: Assist and support the Director of Safety and Risk Management in executing XLI’s safety policies and procedures with the purpose of preventing accidents and injuries. Conduct daily job site safety inspections, addressing unsafe conditions and work practices. Oversee and support safety program implementation at the project level. Lead or attend weekly site safety meetings and subcontractor pre-task planning sessions. Stay current on safety best practices and maintain certifications in hazardous material remediation, confined space entry, fall protection, electrical safety, and PPE. Serve as a trusted resource to project teams in delivering safe, high-quality construction work. Participate in accident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions. Prepare safety performance metrics and reports. Perform additional duties as directed by the Director of Safety and Risk Management. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Associate degree in Environmental Health & Safety or equivalent combination of experience. CSP certification preferred. 7–10 years of field construction experience at the foreman level or above. 3–5 years of direct experience in construction safety. Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Compensation & Benefits: Salary Range: $81,000 – $130,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications in accordance with California pay transparency laws. Typical starting compensation for this role ranges from $120,000 to $130,000. Compensation may also include bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, 401(k), PTO, and wellness programs. At XLI , we believe that people come first.
