Job Description

A Special Education teaching opportunity is available for the Extended School Year (ESY) session in Manassas, VA. This contract position offers the chance to work with students ranging from Kindergarten through 12th grade, providing specialized educational support during the summer months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with special needs in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Collaborate with staff, families, and specialists to implement effective teaching strategies.
• Monitor and document student progress throughout the ESY program.
• Participate in preparatory planning days prior to the start of the instructional period.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Virginia Special Education teaching license is required.
• Experience working with elementary through secondary level students is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, instructional techniques, and behavior management strategies.
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Schedule Details:

• Contract term runs from July 7 to August 1.
• Daily instructional hours range from 5 to 5.5 hours, depending on grade level (elementary 5 hours; secondary 5.5 hours).
• Preparation days on July 1, 2, and a half-day on July 3.
