POSITIONSUMMARY: Standardized Patients (SPs) are individuals recruited from the community whoare expertly trained to support the educational goals of the College ofOsteopathic Medicine at Duquesne University (DUQCOM), DUQ health sciences, andother Duquesne University programs. These professionals engage in role play andmanikin-based simulations, providing realistic scenarios for the training andassessment of students. SPs may assume various roles including patients, familymembers, or colleagues to effectively aid in simulation-based learning andevaluation.
DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES: Delivers precise and effective communication to learners, faculty, and staffduring simulations and debriefings.
Observes and documents learnerperformance meticulously, aligning with predefined training objectives.
Memorizes and articulates detailed casescenarios, including patient symptoms, histories, and emotional cues, toenhance the realism and educational value of simulations.
Portrays patient cases withconsistency, compassion, and emotional accuracy to foster an immersive learningenvironment.
Provides objective feedback on learnerinteractions, noting specific behaviors and communication styles.
Accurately record work hours for each assignment, ensuring payroll accuracy.
Maintains clear and prompt communication with administrative staff regardingscheduling, operational queries, or unforeseen issues.
Arrives on time and well-prepared forall simulations and training sessions, having thoroughly reviewed relevantmaterials.
Actively participate in the review andrefinement of simulation scenarios, offering constructive feedback wherenecessary.
Supports a variety of projects,including faculty development and research initiatives, to optimize theeffectiveness of the simulation program.
Engages fully in required training sessions to maintain high standards ofperformance.
Participates in simulation exercises asdesignated, contributing to the breadth of learning experiences.
Upholds strict confidentialityregarding all educational materials, student data, and proprietary information.
Completes otherduties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications: High Schooldiploma or GED; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
Basic technicalliteracy with consistent internet access; advanced technical skills arebeneficial.
Reliable personaltransportation.
