Job Description

TalentoHC is actively partnered with an enterprise financial services institution in search of a Head of Internal Audit to lead and oversee its audit function. This executive-level role is responsible for setting the strategic direction of internal audit operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting effective risk management across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and execution of the annual internal audit plan in alignment with organizational risk, regulatory expectations, and Audit Committee objectives.
• Direct audits across the bank, holding company, subsidiaries, and affiliates to assess internal controls, financial accuracy, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
• Present audit findings and recommendations to senior management and the Audit Committee; oversee corrective action planning and follow-up.
• Collaborate with external auditors, regulators, and consultants to ensure thorough audit coverage and examination readiness.
• Advise executive leadership on operational risks, internal controls, and process improvements.
• Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing internal audit team, promoting a culture of integrity, accountability, and regulatory excellence.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism at all times

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
• 15+ years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or regulatory examination within the financial services industry.
• Deep knowledge of internal control frameworks, audit standards, and banking regulations (e.g., BSA/AML, FCPA, etc.).
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, make critical decisions, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with audit management tools.
