Position: ESL Teacher
Schedule: Weekly on Tuesdays or Bi-weekly on Wednesday; time is flexible.
Do you want to be a positive influence in bridging communication barriers? Volunteer to lead an English class for seniors living at Lakeside Senior Apartments in Oakland! Ideally, we are looking to bring on a volunteer who is fluent in English (bilingual welcomed), so they can easily engage and assist our seniors! SAHA serves a very diverse demographic of seniors in the East Bay, a large percentage of which have limited English-speaking proficiency. The volunteer will work with residents who are eagerly seeking accessible English instruction to learn how to communicate in emergencies, converse with doctors and health care providers, and interact with others in everyday conversation. They are enthusiastic and greatly appreciate their ESL instructors.

Requirements: Ongoing SAHA Community Volunteers must commit to volunteer for a minimum of 4 months, and must complete a volunteer orientation, volunteer forms and background screening prior to beginning their placement.
