American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU Float Pool assignment in Colorado requiring a compact or CO RN license, critical care skills, and flexibility to float throughout multiple facilities.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in the ICU Float Pool, covering a combination of ICU settings including MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU, and others at acute care hospitals
  • Patient population includes general ICU cases with varying acuity levels, including those requiring CRRT, IABP, and Impella support
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:1 to 1:2 depending on acuity, with the possibility to flex to 1:3
  • Assignment covers multiple hospitals within a 60-mile radius of Colorado Springs and requires floating to all facilities within this zone
  • Night shift position with 12-hour shifts, scheduled flexibly by leadership in 6-week blocks with expected participation in 6-9 weekend shifts per 6 weeks
  • May be required to float to other units such as PCU/Stepdown and Med-Surg Tele as needed
  • EpicCare Inpatient EMR is used, and experience is preferred
  • Responsibilities include providing care for critically ill patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across various hospital sites
  • No home base facility—daily assignments will be received and may change depending on scheduling needs
  • Orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor and additional remote modules as assigned
  • Respiratory therapists may not be present 24/7; RNs must be proficient in basic respiratory care and equipment troubleshooting
  • Any color scrubs are permitted
  • Holiday rotation may be required
  • All requested time off must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
  • Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius from the center of the float zone
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year

  • Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required; 3+ years ICU experience and Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers
  • Current certifications must include BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS, and TNCC
  • Must be comfortable with titrating all critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin
  • Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips is required
  • Must submit a copy of a valid driver’s license
  • Must provide recent references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years with dates and rehire eligibility
