Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Psychiatric Services department plays a critical role on the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The RN is responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process across assigned areas. This includes the development and routine updating of individualized care plans, evaluation of patient outcomes, and the coordination of appropriate resources for each patient. Center is one of New England's most comprehensive behavioral health facilities, dedicated to helping individuals regain stability, hope, and mental wellness. The Crisis Psychiatric Unit provides care for patients aged 5 and older presenting with acute psychiatric conditions. Common diagnoses include major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance-related crises requiring detox support. Some patients may also require concurrent medical treatment.

 

Education:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current and valid RN license in the State of Maine
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification must be current prior to start date

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in mental health nursing required

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-stress situations and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Flexibility to support a 24/7 care environment, including night, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed
