Position : Worship Pastor

Status : Full time (Salary)

Reports to : Lead Pastor

Requirements : Experience and/or seminary training

Personal Character : The worship pastor must have a general pattern of life that aspires to meet the character qualifications of an elder in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. He should be a consistent student of the Bible, maintain personal devotions, and work continually to develop his personal and spiritual leadership. He should be a self-starter and work joyfully and efficiently to accomplish all that is required in this weighty role. He should be in hearty agreement with the Pompey Community Church statement of faith, including the positions on elder leadership, complementarian design, and reformed theology. He should be able to articulate the truths of the faith well, and have a missional mindset to develop a community of Christ followers on mission to spread a passion for Jesus.

Purpose Statement/General Description : The Worship Pastor furthers the mission of Pompey Community Church through worship ministry and discipleship.

Setting : Pompey Community Church is located just outside of Syracuse, NY and is a vibrant, inter-generational church with a heart for making disciples and reaching our community with the gospel. There are many young families in our church, which presents us with the opportunity to raise up the next generation of leaders.

Key Worship Ministry Responsibilities :

• Leadership : Lead our congregation in worship. Shepherd and disciple our worship team, helping them to grow in their faith and helping them to sharpen their individual skills and leadership. Recruit, equip, and coach new worship ministry volunteers. Develop a growing and vibrant worship ministry team that invests in others.
• Discipleship : In conjunction with the Lead Pastor and elders, help promote a culture of discipleship through personal discipleship, involvement in the discipleship groups ministry, and teaching.
• Programming : In conjunction with the Lead Pastor, plan, coordinate, and lead the Sunday morning worship service. Plan and coordinate occasional worship events.
• Relationships : Develop personal relationships with the worship team and the congregation by creating a welcoming, fun and grace-filled worship team culture. Proactively welcome people to worship services and other ministry events, helping  them become connected to Pompey Community Church.
• Communication : Create and maintain effective communication with the worship team and the congregation using social media and other methods to communicate events and opportunities.
• Finance : Prepare and submit yearly budget requests to Lead Pastor. Administer worship ministry budget within the established guidelines and in compliance with Pompey Community Church policies and procedures.
• Safety : Ensure a safe (physically and emotionally) atmosphere for spiritual growth among the worship team. Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the stage and backstage areas where the worship team will serve. Ensure proper completion of background checks for all ministry volunteers prior to their participation.

Organization Responsibilities :

• In addition to their key ministry responsibilities, all PCC staff members are expected to take initiative for other ministry work within the body at Pompey Community Church.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and church initiatives.
• Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor for shepherding, coordination, equipping, and evaluation.
