Ekiti Has Transformed Agriculture Into Profitable Business – Gov Oyebanji

by AgroNigeria

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has emphasized that the state government has successfully transformed agriculture into a profitable business through strategic interventions aimed at boosting the sector.

Speaking during a meeting with the management team of Origin Tech Group, led by its Chief Executive, Prince Samuel Joseph, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing food security in the state.

Governor Oyebanji highlighted the significant progress made in agriculture, noting that young farmers who participated in the state’s farming scheme earned over N200 million from the sale of their produce last year.

This revenue was generated through partnerships with off-takers, major processing plants, and the state government, which supported the farmers by purchasing their produce for storage.

The governor pointed out that these initiatives were part of efforts to make Ekiti a key player in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, with a focus on infrastructure development. He expressed readiness for further collaboration with Origin Tech Group, a partnership he believes could drive more sustainable agricultural development in Ekiti.

In his remarks, Prince Samuel Joseph, the CEO of Origin Tech Group, commended Governor Oyebanji for his visionary leadership, particularly in the agricultural sector.

He lauded the governor’s efforts as a clear reflection of his dedication to advancing both the state and Nigeria’s agricultural potential.

The CEO also expressed his company’s willingness to support Ekiti’s growth through innovative initiatives, including the establishment of middle-level cooperatives, prototype clusters, and sorting and logistics centres.

These initiatives, he said, would not only generate resources for the state but also help achieve a minimum of 40 percent equity in collaboration with the state government.
