2025 Farming Season: Plateau Govt Approves Distribution of 6,300 Tons of Assorted Fertilizer to Farmers

by AgroNigeria

As part of efforts to increase food production, the Plateau State government has announced the approval of 6,300 tons of assorted fertilizer for its farmers ahead of the 2025 farming season.

This move is aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and ensuring economic recovery in the state.

A major component of this initiative is the commitment to direct distribution, ensuring farmers receive the vital input at subsidised rates without relying on middlemen.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Joyce Ramnap, revealed that the Ministry of Agriculture is actively creating a database of farmers across the state.

She noted that this registry will be used to streamline the distribution of farming inputs and fertilisers, specifically targeting those who are registered.

“This initiative is designed to give Plateau State farmers direct access to subsidised fertilisers, cutting out third-party involvement to prevent corruption and diversion,” stated Ramnap.

“Distributing directly to farmers is a crucial step for us in Plateau towards economic recovery.”

In addition to the agricultural boost, Ramnap also addressed the government’s focus on infrastructural development.

She noted the recommencement of work on several abandoned projects dating back to 2013, spanning all three senatorial zones.

She pointed to the 55.23 km road project linking communities such as Rukuba and Miango, as well as the Jibam-Dokang-Kasuwan Baap Road project, where the expansion of a key, single-lane bridge to a dual carriageway is underway to ease traffic flow.
