The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, has reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to creating an environment that empowers Nigerian farmers. This, he said, is pivotal in achieving food security for the country.

Speaking during the launch of the 2025 dry season farming and the distribution of Ramadan palliatives in Kebbi, Kyari highlighted the president’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the growth of the agricultural sector, ensuring that Nigerians have access to an abundance of nutritious food.

“President Tinubu has been unwavering in his support, providing a conducive environment and necessary empowerment for farmers to increase yields,” said Kyari. “This effort is bringing food security within reach, as we are seeing the results of these initiatives already materializing.”

Kyari emphasized that the federal government is collaborating closely with state and local governments to foster prosperity through agricultural production. He also commended the leadership of the state governor, Nasir Idris, for his focus on developing the state’s agricultural sector, which has led to bumper harvests and a reduction in food prices.

The minister also pointed out the importance of dry season farming as a key driver of food security, acknowledging the significant role it plays in ensuring a steady supply of food throughout the year.

In his remarks, the governor, Nasir Idris shared that his administration was fully aware of the challenges faced by farmers during the dry season. To support them, his government has distributed vital agricultural inputs, including water pumping machines, sprayers, power tillers, herbicides, pesticides, and organic fertilizers.

He also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the Minister of Agriculture for their support in facilitating the use of residual moisture for agricultural production, benefiting 15,000 farmers who were impacted by last year’s flooding.
