Palliative: ‘Five People to 20kg of Rice Insulting, Can’t  End  Hunger’, Anglican Archbishop Slams FG

Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the palliatives provided by the Federal Government to the residents of Enugu State.

He criticized the allocation of five people per 20kg of rice, considering it an insult that cannot effectively alleviate the hunger caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Chukwuma also expressed his disappointment with the council chairmen in the state, as they were depleting even the 200 bags of rice that were approved for each ward by the state government committee responsible for distribution.

During an interview with journalists in Enugu, Bishop Chukwuma urged both the federal and state governments to carefully examine the current situation, keeping in mind the welfare of the general public.

Expressing his dismay, Bishop Chukwuma shared, “After witnessing the so-called palliative bags of rice intended for the people of Enugu, I can’t help but feel disheartened and let down. It is truly disappointing to learn that the local government chairmen took away five bags out of the allocated 200 bags meant for each ward.”

“How do you expect this type of palliative to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal?  So, we are feeling that the Federal Government’s palliative for Nigerians is insulting, disgraceful and a failure. It is fraud and we completely reject it.”
