President Bola Tinubu has declared that his administration is revolutionizing agriculture in order to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production and a net exporter of agricultural products.
The president made this announcement on Sunday while hosting a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the State House in Abuja.
During his speech, Tinubu outlined plans to enhance agricultural productivity through various initiatives, such as expanding farmlands, providing low-interest loans to farmers, and making significant investments in irrigation infrastructure.
He stated, “Nigeria will become a net exporter of food. We are bringing in thousands of tractors. Food production will be greatly expanded through aggressive mechanization. We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding.”
President Tinubu expressed his appreciation to the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their support and prayers, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in building a better Nigeria.
In his address, Khalifa of Tijaniyya, Sheikh Mahe Niass, speaking on behalf of the delegation, commended President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability.
