NEMA Denies Ownership of Warehouse Looted in Abuja

by AgroNigeria

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has denied reports that its warehouse in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was looted by residents on Sunday.

Residents of the FCT as gathered by AgroNigeria on Sunday looted a warehouse located in Karimo, Phase 3 of the FCT, Abuja, carting away bags of rice, beans, and other foodstuffs.

However, NEMA released a statement clarifying that the looted warehouse is not owned by the agency.

“The attention of the National Emergency Management Agency has been drawn to media reports on Sunday alleging that the Agency’s warehouse was looted by some hoodlums in Abuja.

“This is to clarify that the looted warehouse does not belong to NEMA. However, the Agency sympathizes with owners of the looted facility.

“To forestall any security breach at NEMA facilities, the Director General Mustapha Habib Ahmed has directed Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to strengthen security in and around the Agency’s offices and warehouses nationwide,” the statement said.

Also, NEMA’s spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, in a telephone conversation with journalists confirmed this development.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the looted warehouse belongs to FCT Agric.
