Representatives from the German Development Agency, GIZ Nigeria, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, where crucial matters related to agricultural mechanization and value chain improvement were discussed
Senator Abubakar emphasised that issues were extensively deliberated during the meeting.
“GIZ, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and the German Federal Foreign Office, is actively collaborating with ECOWAS to enhance food security in our region,” he said.
This collaboration entails providing technical support, capacity building, and essential equipment.
Moreover, to ensure the effectiveness of this partnership, the establishment of a dedicated working unit has been approved.
Senator Kyari emphasized that this unit will be responsible for briefing governors regularly and ensuring that the benefits of the collaboration reach the intended beneficiaries.
The collaboration between GIZ and ECOWAS signifies a concerted effort towards boosting food security and agricultural development in the region.
