Hon. Mudashiru Lukman, the member representing Ayediire-Iwo-Ola Oluwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting agriculture by distributing 600 bags of fertilizer to farmers in his constituency.
The distribution event took place on Thursday in Isero, Olaoluwa Local Government, as part of his broader plan to support local farmers and boost agricultural productivity.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Hon. Lukman assured them that this initiative is just the beginning of ongoing support for farmers in the area.
He emphasized the critical importance of agriculture, stating that farming cannot be underestimated or neglected, as it is essential for survival.
He further stressed that serious attention to farming could prevent food scarcity and stabilize food prices.
Reflecting on his campaign promises, Hon. Lukman said, “I give thanks to God that we are all alive to witness this event. When we were campaigning, I made this promise, and now we are fulfilling it.
“Today, we are distributing 600 bags of fertilizer, but I want to assure you that this is just the beginning. Our intervention in agriculture will not stop here.”
He continued, “As farmers, you are vital to us, and we will do everything within our power to support you. I want to assure you of that.”
As the Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Human Rights, Hon. Lukman also urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the fertilizer rather than selling it, stressing the importance of using the support provided to achieve the intended purpose.
He expressed his gratitude for the continued support of his constituents and called for their ongoing backing to enable more agricultural interventions.
Hon. Lukman also commended Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his recent initiatives in the agricultural sector, including the purchase of tractors and distribution of seedlings to farmers.
He praised these efforts as a significant step towards making Osun a major contributor to the food market in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond.
“I want to advise you all to please make good use of these fertilizers so that they can serve the purpose we intended. And please continue to support us so that we can do even more. We appreciate your support, and we will always need it as a driving force. I also commend our dear Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his giant strides in the agricultural sector. The purchase of tractors and distribution of seedlings is the right step in the right direction. By the time we put all these efforts together, Osun will become a major contributor to the food market in Nigeria, Africa, and even in the world,” Hon. Lukman added.
The event was attended by key political figures, including Osun PDP Senatorial Leader, Hon. Adesoye Oyetunde, Iwo PDP Party Chairman, Alhaji Alidu Tiamiyu Adeoye, and other PDP stalwarts.
