The Ebonyi State Government has approved N285 million in starter packs for 95 graduates under Batch A of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s Agriculture Empowerment Programme.
Speaking during a press briefing in Abakaliki on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Jude Okpor, confirmed that each of the 95 beneficiaries, drawn from all 13 local government areas of the state, will receive N3 million.
The trainees successfully completed a two-month intensive training on agricultural production, processing, and packaging, facilitated by the Masters Skills Development Farms, a renowned agricultural institute.
“This initiative is part of His Excellency’s multi-faceted empowerment programme, aimed at fostering self-reliance and enabling the beneficiaries to contribute to the state’s economic growth,” Okpor stated.
He however, emphasized that the government will monitor the beneficiaries to ensure the funds are effectively utilized.
Furthermore, the council has approved funds for the commencement of training for Batch B of the programme.
