ACCI Targets Expansion of Nigeria’s Export Potential Through Innovation

by AgroNigeria

President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chief Emeka Obegolu, has announced a major initiative aimed at deepening investment in agriculture and expanding Nigeria’s export potential through mechanisation and innovation.

Speaking on the forthcoming Agricultural Mechanisation for Export Quality Products in Africa expo scheduled for June 10 and 11, 2026 in Abuja, Obegolu said the programme is designed to reposition the agricultural sector as a key driver of productivity, value creation, and international trade.

He explained that the event, organised with support from the Agricultural Trade Group and JMT Plus Farms and Agro Allied, will focus on linking capital with opportunity across the agribusiness value chain.

According to him, the gathering will serve as a meeting point for investors, policymakers, researchers, equipment producers, and agribusiness operators seeking to unlock new growth areas.

Obegolu noted that the expo will go beyond a conventional exhibition, offering a platform where entrepreneurs and innovators can connect directly with funding partners interested in mechanised farming, processing, logistics, and export development.

He added that participants will also witness practical demonstrations of modern farming systems and emerging technologies.

The ACCI president further highlighted that the programme will feature a dedicated segment for agro processing and packaging, with emphasis on boosting local value addition.

In addition, a special exhibition and competition involving students has been included to stimulate youth interest in agriculture.

He stressed that the initiative aligns with broader national goals of ensuring food security, diversifying the economy, and strengthening export performance.

He expressed optimism that it would encourage technology transfer, attract new investments, and build lasting partnerships across the sector.

The two day event will include exhibitions of mechanised tools, irrigation systems, precision agriculture solutions, and climate responsive innovations.

It will also host technical sessions, workshops, and business meetings designed to promote collaboration and close investment deals.

Obegolu called on government institutions, private sector stakeholders, and international partners to take part, noting that collective effort and funding remain essential to unlocking the full capacity of Nigeria’s agricultural industry.
