Managing Director and CEO of the Nasarawa State Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA), Ibrahim Abdullahi, has called for the development of Nasarawa State’s agricultural sector to boost the economy and improve the living standards of its people.
He made this statement during the launch of a two-day stakeholders’ training on planning, budgeting, coordination, and implementation of agricultural programmes, organized by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Government.
The training, which is part of the AGRA-Nasarawa State Capability for Inclusive Agricultural Transformation Project, is aimed at equipping participants with the skills needed to enhance agricultural value chains and strengthen the food system across the state.
Abdullahi emphasized that the project would empower the state to fully develop its agricultural resources and drive economic growth.
The $370,000 grant-funded initiative is being implemented by the state’s Ministry of Agriculture, with support from NASIDA and the Nasarawa Agricultural Development Programme (NADP).
Abdullahi also stressed that the project aims to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the management of agricultural programmes, with an aim to develop the agricultural sector and economy of Nasarawa State.
Project Manager of the AGRA-Nasarawa State Inclusive Agricultural Transformation project, Kenneth Ode, encouraged participants to engage fully with the training. He emphasized that the knowledge gained from the sessions would have a lasting impact on both their professional and personal lives.
In his remarks, the training facilitator, Mr. Laz Apir, a Governance, Policy, and Advocacy Expert from Triple C Consult, explained that the sessions were the first in a series designed for personnel in the agriculture sector.
He pointed out that one of the key objectives of the training was to develop participants’ budget tracking skills, ensuring effective coordination between the various departments and agencies involved in the state’s agricultural activities.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Umaru Abdullahi urged participants to fully utilize the opportunity to participate actively.
He noted that their involvement would contribute to achieving the objective of transforming the agricultural sector in Nasarawa State.
