Agriculture Remains Powerful Tool for Transforming Lives, Revitalising Rural Economies – Expert

by AgroNigeria

Mr. Niyi John Olajide, Chairman of Agbeyewa Farms, has said agriculture, when driven by purpose, strategic investment and long-term thinking, remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives, revitalising rural economies and creating sustainable livelihoods across Nigeria.

Olajide stated this in his new year message while outlining ambitious plans to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chain, expand job creation and deepen community impact as it enters 2026, positioning agriculture as a key driver of inclusive growth and rural economic renewal.

The Chairman of the agribusiness company described 2026 as a pivotal year for scaling operations, strengthening local production systems and reinforcing agribusiness as a catalyst for shared prosperity.

He explained that Agbeyewa Farms’ operations in Ekiti State go beyond primary cultivation, demonstrating how a fully integrated agricultural value chain can drive economic renewal while restoring dignity to work.

According to him, the company is focused on building a robust cassava value chain that spans cultivation, aggregation, processing and agro-trading, ensuring value is created at every stage of production.

Olajide noted that this end-to-end model has continued to unlock opportunities across the agricultural ecosystem, benefiting farmers, processors, transporters, youth and entrepreneurs, while addressing long-standing gaps in Nigeria’s agribusiness landscape.

He stressed that job creation remains central to the company’s mission, with particular emphasis on dignified and sustainable employment that allows young Nigerians to see agriculture as a credible pathway to economic mobility and long-term opportunity.

Looking ahead to 2026, Olajide said the company’s focus extends beyond growth to measurable impact, adding that Agbeyewa Farms is committed to positioning agriculture as a modern, viable and rewarding profession, especially for the youth.

He disclosed plans to increase investment in skills development, deepen partnerships with smallholder farmers and expand operational capacity across the value chain, with the aim of improving productivity, building resilience and ensuring shared value creation.

The Agbeyewa Farms chairman also revealed plans to deepen the company’s footprint in Ekiti State, enhance processing capabilities and lay the groundwork for future expansion into new locations, noting that all growth initiatives will be guided by the principle of leaving host communities better than they were met.

Olajide expressed appreciation to the company’s employees, partners, host communities and the media for their continued trust and support, stating that their confidence reinforces Agbeyewa Farms’ commitment to responsible growth and operational excellence.

He expressed optimism that 2026 would mark another step forward in the company’s mission to help reshape Nigeria’s agricultural landscape through integrated value chains, job creation and community-driven development.
