AgroKitchen: Homemade Shrimp Fried Rice

Shrimp fried rice is a delicious and satisfying dish that’s easy to make at home. It’s a popular choice in Asian cuisine, featuring succulent shrimp, flavorful vegetables, and aromatic rice. In this step-by-step guide, I’ll walk you through how to make shrimp fried rice:

Ingredients:

– 2 cups of cooked rice (preferably cold)

– 12-15 large shrimp, peeled and deveined

– 2 eggs, beaten

– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

– 1/2 cup diced carrots

– 1/2 cup frozen peas

– 1/2 cup diced bell peppers

– 1/4 cup diced onion

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 2 tablespoons soy sauce

– 1 teaspoon sesame oil

– Salt and pepper to taste

– Green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Prepare Ingredients:

   – Cook the rice in advance and let it cool. Cold rice works best for fried rice as it’s less likely to become mushy.

   – Peel and devein the shrimp.

   – Dice the carrots, bell peppers, and onion. Mince the garlic.

   – Beat the eggs in a small bowl.

2. Cook Shrimp:

   – Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

   – Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set them aside.

3. Scramble Eggs:

   – In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

   – Pour in the beaten eggs and scramble them until they’re fully cooked. Remove the scrambled eggs from the pan and set them aside.

4. Stir-fry Vegetables:

   – Add a bit more oil if needed, then add the diced carrots, bell peppers, onion, and minced garlic to the pan.

   – Stir-fry the vegetables for about 3-5 minutes until they’re tender.

5. Add Rice:

   – Add the cold, cooked rice to the pan and break up any clumps. Stir-fry the rice with the vegetables for a few minutes until the rice is heated through and begins to turn slightly golden.

6. Combine Ingredients:

   – Add the cooked shrimp and scrambled eggs back into the pan with the rice and vegetables.

7. Season and Finish:

   – Drizzle the soy sauce and sesame oil over the rice. Stir everything together to evenly distribute the flavors.

   – Season with salt and pepper to taste.

   – Add the frozen peas and stir until they’re heated through.

8. Serve:

   – Once everything is well mixed and heated, remove the pan from the heat.

   – Garnish with sliced green onions if desired.
