As part of efforts to promote entrepreneurship among the youth, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has disbursed a total of N492 million to support 1,187 young people in various sectors including trade, farming, and equipment acquisition.
The breakdown of the grant shows that 276 beneficiaries received support through the ARISE Farmers grant, while 628 youths were assisted under the ARISE Traders scheme.
Additionally, 263 individuals benefited from the ARISE Equipment support initiative. Furthermore, eight persons were awarded N5 million each through the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) grant, and 12 others received cars and minibuses.
Addressing stakeholders at the Uyo Township Square on Saturday, Governor Eno highlighted the progress made during his administration, revealing that 116 development projects had been completed within two years. These projects include roads, health centres, compassionate homes, elderly homes, and primary schools across the Federal Constituency, which covers Uyo, Uruan, Nsit Atai, and Ibesikpo Asutan local government areas.
The governor emphasized that the gathering was meant to present the needs document of the constituency, which would be incorporated into the 2026 People’s Budget. He also noted that the event was part of an initiative to extend grants to various constituencies throughout the state.
Governor Eno praised the people of Uyo for their strong turnout, stating that their attendance reflected their important role as the hosts of the Government House.
He also expressed appreciation to the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, for his leadership in fostering unity within the community.
