The Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Dr. Femi Adekanbi, has announced a strategic shift aimed at reducing food prices and strengthening national food security.
He made this known during a tour of the agency’s facilities in Edo State, accompanied by key members of the new management team.
Adekanbi said the Authority’s multipurpose approach and renewed leadership would drive significant agricultural growth and improve food availability across the country.
He stressed that collaboration, particularly from host communities where river basin projects are situated will be critical to achieving this vision.
“We must work together to achieve this mission. Collaborative efforts are key,” he stated.
Addressing BORBDA staff during the visit, Adekanbi charged them to embrace diligence and commitment, adding that the new leadership is setting clear expectations for performance.
He expressed optimism that this fresh chapter would bring renewed energy, innovative thinking, and a stronger sense of purpose aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to ensure food sufficiency nationwide.
Also speaking during the visit, BORBDA’s Executive Director of Finance, Adegboyega Bamisile, assured investors of the safety of their funds, pledging that the new management would ensure secure and profitable investments.
He called for unified efforts across the agricultural value chain to guarantee sustainable food security.
On his part, Executive Director for Agricultural Services, Johnson Oghuma, underscored the need to enhance security around BORBDA’s installations, noting that safeguarding infrastructure is essential for the agency’s long-term goals.
