The purpose of the class is to assist staff in the appraisal of new construction and additions by performing routine technical, field, and clerical duties as assigned; and to perform related clerical and customer service duties as required. This class works according to set procedures under close supervision. Duties Applies knowledge of specific department policies and procedures and utilizes a general understanding of other departments' functions to perform the following duties. Measures new construction and lists property characteristics. Calculates square footage on new construction. Assists appraisers in calculating appraisal values. Photographs building additions or building conditions for the files as requested. Assists in field investigations of mobile homes and real estate parcels within the County. Performs computer data entry to establish, maintain and update property appraisal records; maintains database. Duplicates maps and other documents as requested. Maintains a variety of logs, records and files related to work assignments. Greets and assists customers at the counter; answers the telephone, provides requested information, or forwards calls to appropriate staff person; and processes building permits, certificates of occupancies, and appeals. Receives and responds to inquiries and requests for assistance from other County/city departments and government agencies, realtors, developers, attorneys, surveyors, other professionals, and the public. Attends training, seminars, workshops, etc., as required to enhance or maintain job knowledge and skills. Performs other related job duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Requires at least one (1) year of work experience. Special Qualifications: Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Work Environment Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands. Position Type and Hours of Work This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the core work hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
