Position Summary
The EHS Specialist plays a key role in driving environmental, health, and safety initiatives across a highly regulated facility. This position requires the application of technical EHS principles to manage compliance, reduce risk, and promote a culture of safety. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting site operations and ensuring alignment with federal, state, and internal safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply technical EHS knowledge to solve real-world safety and compliance challenges.
- Manage and execute multiple well-defined EHS projects; maintain thorough documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support site safety programs and environmental initiatives.
- Monitor site operations for compliance with EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Oversee on-site activities of third-party vendors to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Support engineering activities and maintain EHS standards at the facility.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
- Assist in developing and delivering EHS training and internal communications.
- Contribute to ongoing compliance efforts in areas such as biosafety, ergonomics, process safety, hazardous waste management, fire protection, and loss control.
- Stay informed on innovations in safety engineering, pollution prevention, and risk mitigation.
- Participate in shutdown planning, decontamination efforts, and project scheduling.
- Document technical activities and provide support for EHS-related engineering functions.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific, engineering, or technical field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry.
- Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations and hazardous shipping guidelines.
- Familiarity with safety data sheets (SDS/MSDS) and compliance in regulated environments (cGMP, EPA, etc.).
- Experience working in or supporting highly regulated operations is highly preferred.

- Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and ability to maintain gowning certification as required.
