Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Grant Accounting Manager to oversee the financial management and compliance of grant-funded projects in Santa Rosa, California. This role involves supervising a team of accountants, managing a portfolio of significant grants, and ensuring adherence to grant terms and organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in grant administration, financial reporting, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. Responsibilities: - Supervise and guide the daily activities of a team of Staff Accountants to ensure effective operations. - Monitor grant-funded contracts to ensure compliance with terms and alignment with organizational goals. - Review and approve monthly grant claims, verifying accuracy and reasonableness of expenditures before submission. - Maintain and reconcile grant receivable balances on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy. - Prepare and present monthly grant status reports, collaborating with program directors to address any financial or contractual concerns. - Oversee the preparation and submission of required financial reports, including quarterly and year-end closeout reports. - Ensure compliance with single audit requirements through proper documentation and reporting. - Collaborate with program teams to resolve grant-related accounting issues and support budget preparation for new and ongoing contracts. - Provide documentation and assistance during grant monitoring reviews and site visits by grantors. - Maintain strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant accounting or financial management, preferably in a nonprofit setting. - Proven ability to manage grant portfolios, including federal, state, and private grants. - Strong knowledge of compliance requirements for grant-funded projects, including single audit standards. - Proficiency in managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close activities. - Experience with budgeting processes, including developing and monitoring program budgets. - Advanced skills in financial reporting, including preparation of adjusting journal entries and reconciliation of accounts. - Familiarity with grant administration processes, including contractual billing and expenditure tracking. - Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage a team and collaborate with stakeholders.
