Job Description

SUMMARY

A dynamic association management company is looking for a Regulatory and Government Affairs Associate. Verto Solutions is a professional management and scientific services company located in Washington, DC. We provide thoughtful and effective solutions to associations in food, agriculture, and science-focused industries. A successful candidate would join our professional regulatory and government affairs team which conducts surveillance of proposed government actions that affect industries represented by our associations, supports association regulatory committees, and provides and implements targeted client regulatory compliance assistance and advocacy programs. This position is located at our offices in downtown Washington, D.C. in a hybrid work office environment. Some travel within the U.S. will be required. Travel is estimated at less than 5%.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions Develop knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting client associations and their members Assist with preparing written submissions, letters, formal comments, talking points, or presentations for government officials or other audiences Respond to member inquiries with necessary research, providing timely and complete assistance Support association committees relevant to regulatory and technical activities with agendas, minutes, slide decks and meeting polls. Support the planning and execution of client association education and training, including workshops, webinars and guidance documents Monitor and interpret US regulatory notices (e.g. Federal Register), including a critical review and summary of the information Maintain awareness of issues concerning food ingredients in industry, government, academia, etc. Assist with correspondence on a variety of topics to different audiences (e.g.,members, regulatory agencies, consultants, and technical experts) Support and/or represent associations at relevant meetings and conferences Interact with other trade associations, stakeholder groups Develop member resources to assist compliance activities for member companies Monitor Codex Alimentarius Committees and Electronic Working Groups as needed These essential functions are not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required for this job. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, journalism, political science, international affairs, public health, environmental affairs, or public policy with relevant experience. A successful applicant should possess the following skills: Effective oral and written communications skills; capable of communicating regulatory, and/or technical information clearly to a variety of audiences. Organizational and project management capabilities; goal setting, consensus building; ability to understand individual member or organizational issues. Ability to manage assignments and projects, and to work independently. Ability to multitask, work well under pressure, balance competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines when needed.
