Position Overview Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the effective functioning of accounting systems, including accounts payable, payroll systems, purchasing, cash management, general ledger, financial reporting and State/Federal regulatory reporting. The Staff Accountant oversees and supervises the payroll functions of the organization, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with regulations. THIS POSITION OFFERS A 40-HOUR WORK WEEK, NO WEEKENDS, FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE, 12 PAID HOLIDAYS, BI-WEEKLY PAY. Essential Tasks

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Accurate processing of payroll includes the timely review and processing of requests for time clock corrections and ensuring all timecards have the authorized signatures, including any timesheet corrections.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions and provides various payroll related reports as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Additionally, identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, policies and procedures based on compliance, best practices, and observed organizational trends.
  • Provides records and documentation for external audits, including 401k compliance, 401k audit, interim audit, year-end audit, 990 tax return, etc..
  • Process quarterly taxes and W2s.
  • Assist with preparation of Medicaid and Medicare Cost Report, UDS, etc.
Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field of study.
  • Four years of related experience in an accounting environment, including payroll.
  • A combination of education and/or relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Intermediate level with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Physical Requirements
  • Potential sitting or standing for long periods of time, occasional bending, stooping, lifting including of patients, reaching forward and overhead. Proper lifting techniques required.
  • May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day.
  • Frequent computer work required.
  • Must be able to travel freely in the local area; between clinics, hospitals, health departments, etc.

Job Type Full-time License/Certification * NC Driver License Base Pay Overview The starting pay for this position is $65,520.00 annually. Please keep in mind that actual salary will vary based on various factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the roles.
