As the holy month of Ramadan draws near, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, has urged local traders to reduce the prices of essential food items and other goods. This would allow residents to observe Ramadan with greater ease.
The Emir made this appeal on Sunday in Zaria during the launch of a book titled “Dauloli a Kasar Hausa,” which translates to “Kingdoms in Hausaland,” written by Professor Sa’idu-Mohammed Gusau.
Beyond the plea for lower prices, Ado-Bayero also encouraged wealthy Nigerians to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate during Ramadan.
In addition to his appeal, the Emir commended the book’s publisher for providing valuable information about the Hausa kingdoms in Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Zazzau.
He noted that the book offered insightful details about the administrative systems, trade practices, and cultural values of these historical kingdoms.
