Firm Rolls Out Modern Cold-chain Warehouses to Reduce Post-harvest Losses

by AgroNigeria

NovaChill, a joint-venture cold storage company owned by Mystrose Agro Commodities and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, has announced the rollout of modern cold-chain warehouses across the country to reduce post-harvest losses and ensure all-year food availability.

Speaking on the new initiative, the company revealed that the nationwide revolution will begin next week with the launch of an advanced onion storage hub in Sokoto.

It added that the next phase will open in the South-South region in the first quarter of 2026 with another state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse.

The company stressed that these are only the opening stages of a broader national expansion, noting that additional NovaChill facilities will be established to create a seamless cold-chain backbone for Nigeria’s perishable value chains.

It explained that the impact will be immediate and far-reaching, with reduced post-harvest losses, stabilised supply, lower consumer prices, increased farmer incomes, surplus production for export, and significantly higher foreign-exchange earnings.

However, with the NovaChill initiative, Nigeria is taking decisive steps to reduce food waste and accelerate progress toward sustainable food security.
