First Lady, Oluremi Calls for More Involvement of  Nigerians in Local Food Production

The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated the call for Nigerians to become more involved in agricultural production.

Oluremi, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, also stated that the Federal Government’s economic reforms are suitable for the country as they would “help us build a Nigeria that is more respected.”

She therefore advocates a return to agriculture, urging Nigerians to grow their own food.

The First Lady’s Special Adviser on Media, Busola Kukoyi, revealed this in a statement she signed on Wednesday titled, ‘We can grow our food; everyone should grow something,’ following a courtesy visit by the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, to the First Lady’s office at the State House, Abuja.

The First Lady stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts are to be supplemented by the many interventions of the Renewed Hope Initiative, particularly in the areas of agriculture, empowerment, education, health, and social welfare.

“The President has made the right decisions. These decisions will help us build a Nigeria that is more respected. We should be more accountable as a people regarding our resources,” she said.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the need to inspire the youth to think appropriately about the nation. “We have to inspire them to think of Nigeria first before any state.”

The First Lady explained that this was what necessitated her, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, to organize the #ONE NIGERIA/Unity Fabric.

“Youth between 15 years and 25 years will design the fabric depicting Nigeria and not just their State or tribe. The prize money is huge.”

On the issue of IDPs, Mrs. Tinubu said the RHI has commenced the monthly Food Outreach Program to the IDPs and Persons with Disabilities.

In her remarks earlier, the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN explained that the Organization is looking forward to the country committing more funds to Youth, Women, and Girls.
