FMN Provides Input Support, Training, Market Access to 400,000 Farmers Nationwide – Olusanya

by AgroNigeria

Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN) has expanded its agricultural footprint by empowering more than 400,000 farmers nationwide through input support, training, and guaranteed market access.

The initiative, anchored under the company’s transformative outgrower programmes and agronomy support systems, provides Nigerian farmers with high-yield seeds, advanced agronomic practices, and storage solutions, while ensuring stable demand through its food production subsidiaries.

Speaking on the company’s impact, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Boye Olusanya, said FMN had become “a strong ally in Nigeria’s growth and development,” stressing that its operations provide both direct and indirect employment for millions of families.

FMN explained that its agricultural investment dates back to 1978 with the acquisition of a 10,000-hectare farm in Kaboji, Niger State, aimed at reducing reliance on sugar imports.

Since then, the company has expanded into cultivating maize, wheat, cassava, soya beans, palm fruits, sugarcane, and sorghum, while also aggregating and distributing locally sourced grains.

Through its subsidiary, Golden Agri Inputs Limited, FMN said it had also developed farming schemes for more than 50,000 farmers, offering hybrid crop varieties, improved farming techniques, and structured markets for their produce.

Olusanya reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment, stating that FMN remains “unwaveringly focused on strengthening local content development and ensuring Nigeria’s food self-sufficiency, with progressive impact across the continent.”
