Foundation Launches Digital Entrepreneurship Training Program on Agriculture

by AgroNigeria

To promote youth self-reliance, the Zaura Foundation in Kano State, North-West Nigeria, has launched a Digital Entrepreneurship training program focused on agriculture. This initiative is in partnership with the London Academy Business School and the University of Sunderland.

Spearheaded by Abdulkarim Abdulsalam Zaura, the 2023 APC Senatorial Candidate for Kano Central, the program is designed to benefit both graduates and undergraduates across the state.

Speaking during the official launch in Kano, Zaura stated that the training aims to spark innovation and expose young people to impactful digital entrepreneurship opportunities, equipping them for meaningful future participation.

He emphasized that as the world rapidly adopts Artificial Intelligence (AI), it is essential for Kano—a state rooted in agriculture and commerce—to harness these advancements to empower its youth and promote economic independence.

The Zaura Foundation has commenced a digital entrepreneurship training program in agriculture for over 700 participants in Kano State.

Initially planned for just 50 youths, the overwhelming interest saw over 750 individuals enrolling in the initiative. The program is designed to equip young people with practical skills in digital agriculture, making them more productive and self-reliant.

According to the founder, Abdulkarim Abdulsalam Zaura, the training—conducted in collaboration with the London Academy Business School and the University of Sunderland—seeks to nurture the talents of both graduates and undergraduates by introducing them to modern agricultural practices powered by digital technology.

Zaura emphasized that the initiative would help participants, including those in universities and polytechnics, adapt to global technological trends such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), enhancing their ability to engage in agriculture as a viable business.

He noted that the project’s strong reception from Kano’s youth reflects a growing desire for innovation and self-sufficiency.

Dr. Larry Jones, Chief Executive Officer and lead consultant at the London Academy Business School, highlighted Nigeria’s vast potential in agriculture.

He encouraged participants to fully embrace digital entrepreneurship, stressing that the institution brings decades of experience in agricultural development.

“We’re here to inspire and support these young minds. Many are already exploring the digital agricultural space, and our goal is to push them further—to help them start businesses and become active players in the agro-digital economy.” Dr. Jones said.

Project Manager and Chief Economist, Mr. Anton Scheepers, expressed satisfaction with the commitment shown by the participants and shared optimism about their future success.

The Zaura Foundation has consistently implemented various empowerment initiatives aimed at uplifting youths and vulnerable communities across Kano State.
