As part of efforts to empower Nigerian youth and promote economic growth, the House of Representatives has partnered with Idealab Agency, an international organization, to train 5000 young Nigerians in digital skills, agribusiness, and other entrepreneurial ventures.

This initiative aims to provide young Nigerians with valuable skills and opportunities to thrive in the global economy.

Chairman of the Nigeria-US Parliamentary Friendship Group, Hon. Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, announced the partnership during a recent meeting in Abuja with Mr. Emmanuel Aondoaka, Director-General of Idealab Nigeria Limited, and other senior officials from the organization.

During the discussion, Hon. Onuakalusi assured the representatives of Idealab Agency that the House of Representatives would support the program, contingent upon the submission of detailed proposals and approval documents from relevant government bodies.

The lawmakers also expressed their dedication to ensuring that any training initiative benefiting a significant portion of the Nigerian youth population is adequately reflected in the national budget.

They emphasized that the success of the project would depend on transparency and accountability in the management and disbursement of the allocated funds.

Mr. Aondoaka, in his presentation to the committee, revealed that Idealab has already secured approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the release of between N15 million and N75 million to fund the training program. The funds will be distributed to the 5000 selected beneficiaries through the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) and the Bank of Industry (BOI), ensuring a seamless implementation of the initiative.

He added that the training program will cover a range of areas, including digital skills, agribusiness, and other sectors critical to Nigeria’s economic development. Each participant will receive a certificate of registration from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) upon completion of the training.
