Italy Set to Empower Young Innovators For Climate Action in Nigeria

In a collaborative effort between the Italian Consulate-General, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the support of Solution17 for Climate Action, the Nigeria-Italy Youth4Climate Initiative has been launched.

This ambitious project is dedicated to empowering young climate activists, entrepreneurs, technologists, and innovators by providing them with a dynamic platform for sharing ideas, expertise, and innovative solutions to address pressing climate issues within their communities and on a global scale.

Mr. Ugo Boni, the Italian Consul General, emphasized the Italian government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its dedication to tackling climate change as a monumental challenge. Rome’s candidature to host Expo 2030 serves as a testament to their dedication.

Under the theme “Advocate, Innovate, Act: Investing in Youth Climate Solutions,” this initiative aims to inspire and equip young minds to advocate for climate justice, unlock their innovative potential, and take tangible steps toward a greener future by 2030.

The Nigeria-Italy Youth4Climate Conference, scheduled for September 15, 2023, in Lagos, serves as a focal point for this initiative.

“The conference’s primary objective is to foster dialogue and idea exchange on climate change and the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement.

“It will bring together a diverse array of participants, including young individuals, youth organizations, educational institutions, private sector entities, non-governmental organizations, government officials, and experts, facilitating in-depth discussions and collaborative efforts for effective climate action.,” he added.
