The Jigawa State Government, under the leadership of Governor Malam Umar Namadi, has entered into a strategic partnership with China CAMC Engineering Company Limited (CAMCE) and Nigeria’s National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) to revolutionize agriculture in the state.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during a ceremony at CAMCE’s headquarters in Beijing, China, marking a pivotal moment in Jigawa’s pursuit of agricultural modernization and economic growth.

Governor Namadi, alongside key stakeholders, including Muttaga Namadi, Commissioner of Agriculture for Jigawa State; Mohammed Abu Ibrahim, Executive Secretary of NADF; and Mr. Sun Jianshan, General Manager of CAMCE’s Division, formalized the agreement, which focuses on improving agricultural production, processing, and market access.

NADF will play a critical role in facilitating financing for the partnership, while CAMCE will contribute its global expertise to ensure the success of the initiatives.

Speaking at the event, Muttaga Namadi described the collaboration as a bold step towards transforming agriculture in Jigawa State.

He emphasized that the partnership aligns with the government’s vision of creating sustainable practices that improve productivity and enhance economic opportunities for farmers and communities.

Mohammed Abu Ibrahim reinforced this sentiment, highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving food security and driving agricultural development across Nigeria.

Mr. Sun Jianshan expressed CAMCE’s commitment to supporting Jigawa State’s agricultural transformation goals. He pledged the company’s dedication to leveraging its resources and expertise to help the state realize its ambitious objectives.

However, the agreement outlines several initiatives, including the introduction of high-quality seeds, modern irrigation technologies, and comprehensive farmer training programs to improve yields and enhance the quality of key crops such as sesame, soybean, and hibiscus.

The partnership also focuses on adopting advanced cleaning, drying, and processing technologies to add value to agricultural products, ensuring they meet international export standards.

To promote sustainability, the initiative will incorporate renewable energy solutions, such as solar energy and biogas technologies, to power irrigation systems and processing facilities.

Furthermore, the collaboration aims to facilitate access to financing for increased production of priority crops, including rice, wheat, sesame, soybean, and hibiscus, while utilizing CAMCE’s global networks to expand market opportunities for Jigawa’s agricultural commodities.
