Governor Umar Namadi has affirmed that Jigawa State is firmly on a path of lasting transformative progress, highlighting significant accomplishments in agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment as key pillars of his administration’s “Greater Jigawa” initiative.
In a statewide broadcast marking the 34th anniversary of Jigawa State’s creation, the governor emphasized his administration’s dedication to advancing development across all sectors, with particular success in agriculture, where unprecedented milestones have been achieved.
His words: “Our Agricultural Transformation Agenda is beginning to unlock the vast agricultural potential that has long remained underutilized.
“Just yesterday, I signed a law establishing the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agency, which will lead efforts to modernize the state’s agricultural sector.”
Further prioritizing the growth of livestock, Governor Namadi also announced the establishment of a new Ministry for Livestock Development via an Executive Order.
Governor Namadi described the new ministry as an essential part of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda, emphasizing that it will ensure the livestock sector receives the focused attention it deserves.
Regarding infrastructure, he highlighted the completion of 26 inherited road projects spanning over 300 kilometers and the initiation of 45 new road projects covering more than 800 kilometers within just two years of his administration.
“The progress we’ve made in improving critical infrastructure is unmatched,” he stated.
The governor also emphasized substantial investments in youth empowerment, revealing that over 60 employment and empowerment initiatives have been rolled out, benefiting more than 300,000 individuals, primarily youths and women.
He added, “We remain committed to delivering on our promises. Our efforts prioritize inclusive, people-centered economic growth and development.”
While celebrating these successes, Governor Namadi acknowledged ongoing challenges, particularly in education, industrialization, and youth development.
“Though we have made considerable progress, issues such as the high number of out-of-school children and the underutilization of our young population demand fresh strategies and sustained dedication,” he remarked.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the 12-Point Agenda introduced at the start of his administration, describing it as a “partnership between the Government and the People.”
He emphasized the need for collective responsibility and a sense of patriotism.
“Everyone is a vital stakeholder in the progress of Jigawa State.
“We must all acknowledge that each of us has a part to play in building a greater Jigawa,” he submitted.
