Katsina Set to Launch Farmers’ Radio Station

by AgroNigeria

Katsina State is gearing up to unveil major agricultural and infrastructure initiatives during the scheduled visit of Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday. Among the key projects is the launch of the state’s farmers’ radio station and the commissioning of multiple development projects executed by Governor Dikko Radda.

Commissioner for Agriculture and Livestock, Prof. Ahmed Bakori, explained that the new farmers’ radio station is designed to provide farmers with direct, on-demand support across all aspects of agricultural production, from pest control and marketing to production management.

“The radio platform will allow farmers to communicate freely and receive expert guidance, complementing the services of extension workers and the Katsina Sustainable Platform for Agriculture (KASPA),” he said.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize agriculture in the state, including access to equipment and targeted training programs, particularly for smallholder farmers who rely heavily on radio for information.

In addition to agriculture, the Vice President will inaugurate a 3.3-kilometer road project within the Katsina metropolis.

Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transportation, Alhaji Sani Magaji-Ingawa, noted that the road, stretching from the Katsina Central Mosque to the WTC roundabout, was completed at a cost of N1.9 billion.

Further, Aisha Aminu, Director-General of the state’s Enterprises Development Agency (KASEDA), disclosed that Shettima will officially open the 9th expanded National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Clinic during his visit, reinforcing the state’s commitment to entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
